What is the point of having a debate amongst three monkeys with exactly the same policies?
• Interviewer – “Mr Clegg – what do you think of the EU?”
• Clegg - “Oh it is very good for us, we don’t need a referendum and we are staying in.”
• Interviewer – “Mr Cameron – what do you think of the EU?”
• Cameron – “Oh it is very good for us, we don’t need a referendum and we are staying in.”
• Interviewer – “And lastly Mr yellow streak Brown, tell us your policies – what do you think of the EU?”
• Gormless – “Oh it is very good for us, we don’t need a referendum and we are staying in.”
There is no point in a debate with just three party leaders who represent one party with three heads. It will be a cosmetic exercise without meaningful differences. Oh yes; there will be loud disagreements about toffs and saving the world, but all three of them will just agree in silence on the important matters. There is no point in a debate that excludes parties with different views. Unless the broadcasters open this debate to the “other” party leaders who oppose the EU, we will just end up with a brainwashing job that will give maximum exposure and publicity to the pro-EU group and exclude all its political opponents.
Shhhhh it’s a stitch-up.
Pass it on.
