Well done, England!

Great performance. When you beat a side as good as Croatia 5-1 in a competitive match, the world sits up and takes notice.
Let's not get carried away though. No European team has ever won the World Cup when it has been played outside Europe, and both Brazil and Spain are in cracking form.
The Spanish have Villa and Torres up front. The English have Rooney and Heskey. The semi finals would still be an excellent achievement. That said, the Spanish ended a 44 year wait to win their second European Championships in 2008. Let's hope England can end a 44 year wait for that second World Cup in 2010.
Poor old Scotland! Never mind lads; I'm pretty sure that you can cheer on England when the World Cup's on TV next summer and Gordon Brown's back home licking his wounds.
