Good bye Joe. You really are the "Greatest"

I have now watched his best boxing matches in the UK and feel confident in saying he is THE best British boxer ever and also the best Italian ancestry boxer ever. But best of all Joe Calzaghe is a true gentleman, a credit to all the best things Britain once was and can be again. God bless Joe Calzaghe and all his great supporters in the world.

Joe Calzaghe put his undefeated legacy before a few million dollars more last night when he called time on one of the most illustrious careers in the annals of British boxing.
The Welsh legend declared: ‘There are no more mountains left to climb,’ after announcing what he describes as ‘one of the toughest decisions of my life’.
At 36, Joe retires as this country’s only unbeaten world champion and history will link him with Rocky Marciano, the no-loss world heavyweight champion.

Also, his last home fight will be remembered as his fitting farewell to Wales. Joe recalls his super-middleweight championship unification outpointing of Danish iron man Mikkel Kessler as ‘my greatest win’.

As in his other notable triumphs over Hopkins, Jones and Jeff Lacy, it was his phenomenal hand speed, overwhelming work rate and ability to take a punch that were the hallmarks of his Kessler victory.
Joe Calzaghe will be remembered, also, for the special relationship with his father Enzo who, despite no boxing background, kept Joe unbeaten as amateur and professional.
